A benchmark player in electricity generation and water management
Nareva is a Moroccan energy company active in electricity generation and the water cycle. A subsidiary of Al Mada, Nareva has contributed actively to the energy transition and to the mobilization of water resources since its creation in 2004.
With an installed electrical capacity of 3 431 MW and annual output exceeding 16 TWh, Nareva is the leading independent power producer in the Kingdom. A pioneer and leader of wind energy in Africa, Nareva currently operates around a dozen wind farms totalling a capacity of 1 960 MW, including the Aftissat wind complex (550 MW), the second-largest wind farm in Africa. Also present in thermal power, Nareva operates the Safi thermal power plant (1 386 MW), the only plant in Africa to use ultra-supercritical technology. Nareva is also active in electricity transmission and has built more than 300 km of HV/EHV lines across the national territory.
In parallel, Nareva is developing combined-cycle gas turbine projects totalling 1 800 MW, as well as an innovative waste-to-power project for the Municipality of Casablanca, processing more than 1,4 million tonnes of waste per year and incorporating a 115 MW Energy Recovery Unit (ERU) and a 50 MW solar PV plant.
Nareva is also present in the water sector through Amensouss, an innovative water transfer project that mobilizes water from the Alouz dam to convey it to the Sebt El Guerdane agricultural area, through a structure with a total length of 384 km and an annual capacity of 45 million m³. Building on its experience in the water cycle, Nareva is taking part in the water highway project between the Sebou and Bouregreg river basins and the Oum Rabia river basin. It continues this pioneering role through the construction in Dakhla of the world’s first desalination unit powered exclusively by renewable electricity (37 million m³ produced annually and 60 MW of wind capacity).
Nareva intends to leverage its leadership in renewables and the Kingdom’s strengths to become a benchmark player in green hydrogen and its derivatives. Nareva has accordingly been selected under the Morocco Green Hydrogen Offer to develop green hydrogen, green ammonia and synthetic fuel projects.
